Together with the participants, I ‘uncovered’ career myths, evaluated how career perception is evolving and how alternative career approaches could be established over time. What if all of this would be outdated? If self-determination, freedom, personality and purpose would be same or even more relevant when it comes to career progression? Would that change the term completely? Unfortunately this still underlines the perception of career in our society to some extent.
I was asked to describe my personal path to Deutsche Bank as well as to discuss why the ‘standard definition of career‘ might need some rethinking.ĭuring my prep work for the event, I googled the term ‘career‘ and suggestions such as ‘Can you still make career at the age of 35?‘, ‘Is being a mother killing your career?‘, ‘When is it too late starting a career’? came up. That was the title of my keynote last week as part of Deutsche Bank’s contribution to Shine career fair in Munich. Is the term #career still in keeping with the times?
